Today at the Dr.’s office fire repair we employed the services of a 150’ commercial boom crane to lift the timber support beams into place. Our challenges during the hoisting of these beams were many. The beams weighed between 1,800 and 3,000 pounds. We had to lift them up and over the front of the building and into the back corner. There is a power line easement with overhanging trees that we had to maneuver the beams around and over. Once in place the beams were bolted to the support gussets. We welded steel angle brackets in several areas to add security. Now that the major timber beams are in place we will begin framing the roof structure.
