Residential Patio Construction

This week we built a 300 square foot back patio cover from the ground up.  We started by pouring a fully supported concrete slab complete with tied steel and monolithic foundation beams.  We then set 4”x4” cedar support posts in epoxy grounded steel gusset cleats.  Once the posts were set and cured we commenced the framing of the structure and supported it into the exterior wall of the house.  We decked the framed structure and applied a laminated composition shingle roof system to match the roof on the house.  Upon completion of the roof we enclosed the structure walls and ceilings with rustic, prestained cedar panels.  To give the new custom structure a finishing touch we trimmed all of the corners, seams as well as transitions, and applied angled 4”x4” cedar corbils to our support posts.

The Patio... Completed

We finished the patio remodel this week.  After refurbishing the wrought iron rail and gate we installed it on the new stained and stamped patio.  To refurbish the railing and gate we had to weld it back together in several places.  We also sand blasted it and powder coat finished the rail.  On the stamped and stained patio we removed the concrete forms and grind finished the edges.  Once the rail was installed we pressure washed the patio.

Residential Construction/Patio

This week we poured, stamped and stained the new concrete patio.  We had to remove the wrought iron rail which will be refurbished and painted and welded back into place.  We tied steel throughout the new patio area after having removed the old tile and cutting beam channels.  We also had our mason wrap the posts of the balcony that we built above the garage last year.  We were able to locate matching bricks and now the balcony posts match the patio posts.  Now that the patio is poured and finished the replacement of the wrought iron rails is the last phase.

New Project: Residential Patio Remodel

Today our masonry and concrete crews began a patio remodel. We removed the existing exterior grade tile and cleaned the patio surface. We then tied steel throughout the patio area and doweled into the foundation slab of the adjoining house. Next we will remove the wrought iron railing, sand prime and paint it. The railing/fence and gate will be bolted back into place and repaired as needed by welding damaged areas to reinforce them. The new patio application will be stamped concrete stained in a dark brown color.
