Steel Roof Replacement/Hail Damage Repair

This week we reroofed a mid-century modern home in North Dallas, TX.  The existing roof is a modified bitumen hot mopped roof system.  Our client is replacing the roof due to hail damage and also to improve the curb side appeal of their beautiful home.  Our removal efforts were concluded when we had the old roof completely scraped off all the way down to the decking.  In several areas we replace custom milled tongue and groove interior finish grade decking.  The decking, while providing structural support for the roof, also had to be of high enough quality to be left exposed as the interior ceiling reveal.  Flashings were installed at rise walls, utility exhaust ports and at the chimney.  We then installed a 24 gauge standing seam panel roof system.  The color we installed is Galvalume.  The color of the panels is Energy Star rated for its highly reflective properties.  The standing seams were mechanically locked to ensure water tightness due to the mild slope of the roof.  The steel roof panels we installed gained our client a homeowners insurance discount from their insurance company because the steel panel is wind and hail resistant.  We helped our client process their insurance paperwork and provided a certificate verifying the UL 2214 compliance of the standing seam steel panels.  Upon completion, our client, the homeowner will enjoy the benefits of a highly energy efficient reflective roof,  a discount from their insurance company and last but not least a much improved appearance.  This was a fun job!
