We recently had the privilege to work with a new client on the processing of a residential hail damage insurance claim. The client’s insurance company totaled their roof, gutters, windows screens & fence. We removed and replaced the hail damaged roof & added attic ventilation to promote energy efficiency. We also replaced damaged window screens and installed new pre-finished seamless aluminum gutters. We also pressure washed & stained the damaged fence. Upon completion we processed the final paperwork with our client’s insurance company. Hail damage repairs can be quite a hassle, but at Accede we strive to make the process as convenient and hassle-free as possible for our clients.

The goal of Accede Construction Projects' blog is to provide a more tangible insight into the depth and quality of the services we offer at Accede Construction. In addition to providing a look into our current and past projects, we hope to be an industry resource to our clients, potential clients and to our general reader. www.accedeconstructionprojects.blogspot.com www.axede.net

MCKINNEY, COLLIN COUNTY, TX: Hail Damage: Roof Replacement and Insurance Claim Assistance
This week in McKinney we replaced a hail damaged residential roof. The roof had composition shingles over wood shakes. We removed both layers of roof shingles. We then made carpentry repairs to various rafters & purlins. Once the structural integrity of the roof frame had been secured we installed the new decking substrate. Our client opted for a radiant barrier decking in order to optimize the energy efficiency of the new roof system. Once the new decking substrate was secured we applied the 30# felt underlayment. The shingle that we then installed was a lifetime rated dimensional composition shingle. We ventilated the attic spaces with a continuous ridge vent system since the structure profile included several long ridges. Upon the roof installation completion we cleaned the project perimeter & rolled a magnet throughout the grounds of the property to collect all of the fallen nails etc.. We then filed the necessary insurance claim paperwork on behalf of our client to recover the depreciation as well as a repair supplement. The client was very happy with the finished roof installation result & is looking forward to discounted energy expenses.

IRVING, DALLAS COUNTY, TX: Roof Replacement due to Hail Damage
This week we replaced a roof in Irving, Dallas County, TX. Our client called us with concerns regarding roof leaks. We inspected the roof and found the leak origins. During our inspection we also observed hail damage. The hail damage that we observed qualified the roof with most insurance companies for total replacement. We met our client’s insurance adjuster to show him the hail damage that we saw. He agreed with us and totaled the roof. We replaced the roof by removing the damage shingles and hauling them away. We then cleaned the existing felt off and applied new felt underlayment. Upon full application of new felt we installed new drip edge flashing around the perimeter of the roof. We then nailed the new shingles into place and installed the exhaust, plumbing and HVAC vents. After completing the install we painted all of the vents with UV resistant paint and sealed the fastening nails. The perimeter of our client’s home was cleaned and we rolled a magnet to collect the fallen nails and the old staples from the hail damaged roof. We provided our client with their manufacturer warranty and with our 10 year transferable watertight labor warranty. We then assisted our client in the recovery of their depreciation from their hail damage insurance claim. The new roof looks great.

FRISCO, TX: Energy Efficiency and Roofing
We replaced 20 year three tab shingles with 30 year laminated dimensional weathered wood shingles which are also much less likely to be blown off. This subdivision is located next to a large open field and many homes with 20 year shingles are missing shingles. The client had to have blown off shingles replaced almost once a year and the upgrade in shingles will eliminate this problem.
All attic ventilation was improved with the addition of the wind turbines we added. The turbines paired with soffit vents that the house was already equipped with will create a draft in attic and remove the hot summer air from the home. The project also required repairs around the chimney and other locations where siding was worn by hail and squirrel damage. All gutters were replaced and leaf screen was installed on one side where a large oak tree is problematic. To complete this project, all damaged window screens were replaced and a bank of east facing windows were upgraded to Low E windows which are highly reflective to the sun and keep the dining room comfortable throughout the day.
